You don’t have to walk the journey alone.

Cheyne Kilburn

Counsellor

Meet Cheyne,

Cheyne brings a powerful combination of lived experience, warmth, and a deep appreciation for life to the Thryve team. A long-term resident of South East Queensland for over 40 years, Cheyne loves making the most of the region’s beautiful climate and natural outdoor spaces. At home, he is a dedicated husband of 25 years and a proud father to four teenagers and young adults, giving him a wealth of firsthand insight into the unique seasons of family life.

Cheyne’s path to counselling is deeply personal. Having walked his own long journey through depression, he emerged with a profound, authentic passion to help others navigate their own dark or challenging seasons. He knows what it takes to find hope again, and he brings that genuine understanding into every session.

Experience & Approach

Before stepping into professional counselling, Cheyne spent years working in Outdoor Education. In that role, he used nature and adventure to guide young people through unique challenges, helping them uncover inner strengths they didn’t know they had.

Today, Cheyne takes that same foundational philosophy and applies it in a clinical setting. His therapeutic approach is centered around:

  • Meeting You Where You Are: Coming alongside individuals of all ages with deep empathy, meeting you with a calm, non-judgmental presence.

  • Restoration & Growth: Focusing not just on symptom relief, but on helping you actively restore your heart, rebuild confidence, and reclaim a fulfilling life of true abundance.

  • Strength-Based Guidance: Helping you identify your unique, hidden strengths so you can confidently face life’s transitions and hurdles.
