We completely understand that emergencies and sudden illnesses happen. If you run into an unexpected situation, please call us on 0401 273 958 or email info@thryvecounselling.com.au as soon as possible so we can figure out the best path forward together.
Our Policy for Late Changes:
- Less than 24 hours’ notice: Incurs 50% of the session fee.
- Less than 4 hours’ notice or non-attendance: Incurs 100% of the session fee. Future bookings may be paused until outstanding balances are settled. fee is paid
-
Frequent cancellations: May result in being moved back to our waitlist so we can re-evaluate the best timing for your journey.
Thank you for understanding. These boundaries aren’t meant to be rigid—they simply allow us to run a sustainable practice where every single client receives the dedicated care, time, and attention they deserve..

Can I claim a Medicare rebate ?
No, our services are not eligible for Medicare rebates—but here is why that can be an advantage.
Under current Australian regulations, Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) only apply to sessions with registered psychologists, social workers, or occupational therapists, rather than counsellors.
Because we operate outside the Medicare system, you get several distinct benefits:
-
No Referral Needed: You can skip the long wait times and costs of visiting a GP for a referral plan.
-
Complete Privacy: Your session notes and mental health history stay completely confidential within our practice and are not recorded on your public Medicare or My Health Record file.
-
No Session Limits: Medicare caps your subsidized sessions per year. With us, you can access support for as long as you need, whenever you need it.
We are fully committed to providing highly accessible, premium care. If you have any questions about our fee structure or payment options, please reach out to us on 0401 273 958 or via our Contact Page.
Can I claim private health rebates ?
Yes, depending on your provider and level of cover.
If you have Private Health Insurance with Extras cover, you may be eligible for a rebate on our counselling services. Because policies vary greatly, we highly recommend contacting your health fund directly to confirm exactly what is included in your current plan.
Our Registered Health Funds: Our team includes coverage for major private health funds, including:
-
Medibank Private
-
Bupa
-
AHM
-
HCF
-
ARHG Networks (Including Police Health, Emergency Services Health, Phoenix Health, St Luke’s Health, GMHBA, Teachers Health, Westfund, and UniHealth)
How to Book: To ensure you can claim your rebate, we will match you with a counsellor who is registered with your specific provider. Please let us know which health fund you use when submitting your Contact Form or booking your session, and we will handle the rest.
Can I use my NDIS funding?
sYes, we warmly welcome both Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS participants.
We offer specialised Counselling and Equine Assisted Therapy designed to help you build practical skills and achieve your personal independence goals.
