Cancellation Policy
Honouring Your Time and Ours
When you book a session, that time is dedicated entirely to you. To ensure we can support everyone who needs it, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This gives us a fair chance to offer the time to another client.
- 48+ hours’ notice: No fee.
- Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee applies.
- No notice / non-attendance: 100% of the session fee applies, and further bookings may be paused until this is paid.
Sudden illness or emergencies: If something unexpected comes up, contact us as soon as you can — we may waive the fee at our discretion, and we may ask for a medical certificate to confirm this.
Repeated late cancellations may result in being placed on a waiting list rather than a standing appointment time.
To cancel or reschedule: call 0401 273 958 or email info@thryvecounselling.com.au. If we don’t answer, please leave a message — our practitioners are often in session.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support
Do I need a referral?
No. You can self-refer, or be referred by a family member, carer, or NDIS Support Coordinator (with your consent). A GP referral is not required.
Do you offer online Appointments?
Yes. Both our Counselling and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are fully available online or phone, depending on your preference.
How do I pay for my session?
Payment Methods:
We accept cash, debit card, and electronic funds transfer. An invoice is issued on completion of your session, or as otherwise agreed.
For EAP Clients:
If your session is covered by your workplace EAP, no payment details are needed at booking.
Questions?
If you have any questions regarding billing, invoices, or payment arrangements, please reach out to us directly through our Contact Page or call us on 0401 273 958.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate ?
No — Medicare rebates for mental health care are only available through registered psychologists, social workers, or occupational therapists, not counsellors. As counsellors, we can’t offer a Medicare rebate on any session. We’ve priced our sessions to remain accessible without one, and we’re happy to talk through options if cost is a concern.
Can I claim private health rebates ?
Possibly. If you hold private health insurance with extras cover, you may be able to claim a rebate on some counselling sessions — this depends on your fund and which counsellor you see.
Please confirm your eligibility with your fund before booking, and let us know at enquiry stage if you’d like to be matched with a counsellor covered by your fund.
Currently:

- Cheyne, Amanda & Rebecca: Private-pay only at this time
Can I use my NDIS funding?
Yes, for self-managed or plan-managed participants. We offer brief, goal-focused interventions (typically 6–8 sessions) for Counselling and Equine Assisted Therapy. Your plan must include the “Therapy & Professional Supports”.
How to Get Started: If you, your carer, or your Support Coordinator would like to initiate a referral, please fill out our Contact Form and note your NDIS management type so we can assist you smoothly.
Are you open after hours or on weekends?
Yes — weekday sessions are available before and after standard business hours, plus Saturday mornings by appointment.
-
After-Hours Support: Evening sessions are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
-
Weekend Availability: We offer Saturday morning sessions on a fortnightly basis.
If you have specific scheduling constraints or want to check our current openings, please mention your preferred times when submitting your Contact Form, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
